DH and I have been talking about whether we should start switching out the plastic things that our children use to eat and drink because of possible chemical leaching. This was brought on by one of my friends doing so with her daughter. She uses stainless steel straw cups now. So, what do you use? Is this something that you've wondered about and researched? If so, any references?
After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!

Re: What type of cups, bowls, etc does your child(ren) use?
I use Thermos brand sippy cups for Dillon, not out of concern for plastic - just he prefers that one, plus I like that the stainless steel keeps his drinks colder then plastic would.
For dishes and bowls, he uses paper plates mostly.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Is this chemical leaching beyond the BPA issue? If so, I'm not sure I'm helpful as our bowls/containers are BPA free but I haven't researched beyond that to be honest (it's hard to keep up with the danger of the day!). Anyway, we use Gerber bowls (the old school ones) and they've held up for almost 3 years with the lids still attaching securely.

For cups, we've always used Born Free, Green Sprouts or Fogo ones which are also BPA free. My daughter has loved them.
Everything we use is BPA free. I nuke things on our everyday china and transfer it to her plastic bowls.
Now that I think about it, SIL got her some great bamboo spoons and I should look for some bamboo/wood bowls.

Funny that you post this because this has been on my mind lately. We use the plastic bowls and plates from IKEA, mostly, and I'm not sure they're a great choice. We don't microwave in them, but we do run them through the dishwasher...
In fact, I have sitting open next to me the latest mailer I received from our state's Department of Health... It's called "Protect Kids from Toxics" and while most of it is obvious to an educated person, the plastics section has me a little concerned since it says not to put hot food in plastic, not to wash them in the dishwasher, and that toxic chemicals can be released when they are scratched (um, all of the plates are scratched from cutting up food on them).
Also, it says to avoid storing foods in plastics labeled with recycling codes #3, #6, and #7... So just today I noticed that the (organic, no sugar added) applesauce we send to school with DS1 is packaged in #7 plastic. Argh!!!
