Where to go on a quickie vacation

with a 2 year old?  We just want to get away for a few days without it being an ordeal but definitely to a toddler friendly place.  Any ideas?

We went to Portland earlier this summer so "been there, done that" but otherwise, I'm wide open to suggestions!

TIA!

  • I remember going to whibey island (spelling ??)  when I was younger. We always had fun there

  • Whidbey is nice and there are lots of things to do there.  There's a short ferry ride, so if your kiddo likes boats, your set :)  I always think of the ocean for that age group: play in the water and sand, watch kites, find shells, etc.  The beach is a little warmer, drier and sandier in OR, if you're up for the drive again.  You could go along the coast and take the ferry across the river, too.

  • My parents are on Whidbey so we go there quite often.  It doesn't feel exotic enough since we spend so much time there!

  • San Juans are fun if you are outdoorsy.

  • Chelan is always my choice for a few days away - they have great public beaches and parks, a waterpark with a large kids section and lots of things to see and do - we took or 19 month old blueberry picking at blueberry hill.  he loved it!
  • Ocean Shores or the Oregon Coast?

    Harrison Hot Springs in BC?

    Any lake in E. Wa.

  • More votes for Whidbey Island and Lake Chelan!

I think Vancouver, BC could be really nice, too.  Granby Island (sp?) has a perfect little area for kids.

  • Sequim.  The Olympic Game farm is a hoot.  There are lots of great places to get out and hike/explore.

Yes, I was going to say Sequim, too, and the Olympic Game Farm!  And you could stay at the KinderFarm.  I stayed there with an ex once, but I'm looking forward to taking DS there when he's a little older.  This nice old couple rents out their guest house (2 floors, rent one or both).  They live on a farm and animals are loose and very friendly:  pigmy goats, llamas, chickens, ducks, rabbits, etc.  You can sit out and look at stars on the deck at night.  We even had a hawk on our deck in the morning.  Promise I'm not related to them! :-) haha I'm just eager to go back with a child next time.
