what does spotting mean (when you're not pregnant)?

i'm anovulatory (maybe because of PCOS, maybe because of hormonal ammenorrhea . . . depends which RE you ask :P  ). normally i don't spot or get periods or anything, my uterus sits around doing nothing. the last week or so i've been getting a very tiny amount of spotting on and off.

any idea what my ute is up to? of course i'm hoping this is a sign of me magically becoming more fertile . . . but probably wishful thinking. =(

    Could be you just irritated something having sex, or in my case spotting has always been the result of polyps in the ute.

    I was also completely anovulatory (unexplained, as I don't have PCOS and hormones were always normal), and my uterus just sat around doing nothing and lining stayed thin. Then after having Toodle and nursing, I started spotting a few months after weaning and ended up having 2-3 (very long, irregular) cycles for the first time ever. Got pregnant on the third! ;)
