Hair Loss....

in April 2011 Moms

The last few days in the shower I have been losing a large amount of hair out of my head while I am washing it.  Has anyone else experienced this...Does anyone know a reason why this is happening or what I can do to stop it?  TIA!

    Not a thing you can do to stop it. It's all hormone related (post partum hormone shift). When pregnant your body doesn't shed hair like normal - and it's making up for lost time, so to speak.

    I lost COPIOUS amounts with my son 3 years ago - at 3 mts post partum. And now the EXACT same situation w/my daughter. It's slowed though - I've noticed..  but it was a good month of CRAZY hair loss.

    I have very small receding hairlines bc of it - no tight ponytails over here!!!!  It grows back, don't stress. I got little baby-hairs at my hairline when it started to grow back in...

    Yup, I have a receding hairline that rivals any middle aged man. I see baby hairs starting to grow back so there is hope!

    Ah, welcome to the joys of PP life!  My hair loss is out of control.  I know better, but I still sometimes worry that it won't all grow back in eventually!

    Yup.  It is absolutely disgusting.  And totally normal.

    Same here! Everyone told me I'd lose my hair but it didn't happen right away so I thought I was in the clear. Then these last few weeks its been falling out like crazy! Bummer. Now all those baby hairs are growing in around my hair line.....

    This.  My hair stylist a few weeks ago asked if I had started losing hair and I smugly said not at all, thinking it wasn't going to happen to me.  Now I can run my fingers through my hair and pull out handfuls.  Yuck.
