Drying natural fibers

I've been hanging all my diapers on the clothes line to dry and throwing any natural fibers in the dryers for 10 min to soften them after they are dry (or sometimes when they are damp). Someone just told me I shouldn't dry my hemp inserts outside because it will ruin them. Is this true? If so, why?

That makes zero sense to me. I line dry everything right now. It only goes in the dryer if it's rainy.

Actually, the opposite is true... I've been drying my hemp/microfiber inserts in the dryer for the last year (pure laziness) and one of my AFF hemps has started to deteriorate/break down... i'm sure it's been from the stress of drying it in the dryer.

I read somewhere if you have over 8% relative humidity where you live your hemp won't fully dry on the line.

This. You can get hemp funk if it never fully dries because bacteria can breed in the residual moisture. That said, feel free to do the line drying but give your hemp a good spin in the dryer at the end to make sure they are bone dry.
