Pinterest question

ok, I feel like i'm not grasping Pinterest. When I go to pinterest.com (without being logged in) I see all kinds of new things. As soon as I try to pin something I see, I am prompted to log in - fine - but after I log in I am taken to all of my familiar pins and I can no longer see all the new stuff I saw before I logged in. Does that make sense? Does anyone else have this problem?

 oh wait - I think if I click "everything" I see all the new stuff. duh.
