Separate loads of laundry?

I am about to join the 2u2 club and just realized my days of doing separate loads of laundry are probably over. :)  Seriously though, do you wash your LO's clothes together?  I am so used to washing all DS's stuff separately when it was just the three of us, but it seems ridiculous to wash this new LO's stuff separately as well. I'm thinking it might be time to just wash all household clothes together, no matter whose it is.  I have a feeling I am not going to have time to be quite so attentive to the laundry.  Ha ha.

Re: Separate loads of laundry?

  • I do my laundry in terms of where it gets put away: mine + DH, DD+DD, and DS. Sometimes all the kids together, but that's a LOT of laundry and I have a hard time folding it all and putting it away in one go.

  • I wash the kids clothes together. When it was just the three of us I did seperate loads but now it's just easier to do theirs together.
  • I usually do all of ours together unless DD and DS both have a lot of things and then I'll just do their things together and mine and DH's together.

  • I usually do both of my DD's laundry together, and sometimes mix it with my laundry. (There's always enough to do separate loads for me and my DD's.) DH's clothes get so dirty at work that I don't wash his clothes with anyone else's.

  • I wash the boys clothes together even their towels are in that one load. Then I do dh and mine's darks, dh and mine's whites, towels/underwear, and lastly sheets. So basically I do 5 loads a week sometimes 6 depending on how bad the boys clothes are.

  • Wow, I never did separate washes, ever. Usually in a week I do whites, coloureds, darks, towels, sheets, DH's work clothes and about 3 x nappies. There's no way I'd do DS's stuff separate and create more work for myself!!

  • I do mine and DH's together.  When it was just the 2 boys, I did their laundry together (mainly because it was easy for me to separate it when folding).  Now that their clothes are so similar in size, it's annoying for me to figure out which clothes belong to which kid, so I do their loads separately.  Same for the baby.

  • I have never separated our loads and don't plan to start when #2 gets here unless they need an extra load done during the week (I will still throw in what I can from our clothes if there's room). Why would I want to create extra work and waste water, power, etc?

I did this in the beginning when it was the 3 of us but it got too time consuming and I attempted to do it again (wash Nicks clothes separate) but that lasted maybe one load lol Now everyones just gets washed together!

As long as a LO doesn't have a sensitivity to the detergent I cant see why it's really necessary to do LO's separate unless it's easier for you.

  • I usually wash the kids' stuff together (lights and darks) but separate from our clothes. However, I've recently started throwing a few of their items in with ours in an effort to keep up with all laundry in general.

  • We wash the kids clothes together and mine and DH's separate.  I started to wash them separately when DD was first born, but it just seemed easier to have one laundry basket for the both of them and do it together.  I also hate laundry, so the less I have to separate, the better.

  • Each of our DD's have separate hampers so we(yes, we both do the laundry) wash each of their clothes separate. It makes folding and putting them away much quicker and more organized. Also, this way, if we haven't had time to put them away yet I don't have to worry about DD1 ending up in DD2's clothes when DH gets them ready. DD1 is a little peanut and even though they are snug.....it has happened. lol

    We do mine+DH's together.
