Success after IF

FET question

Supposedly FETs are easier than fresh cycles, but I think I've made mine about as difficult as it can be! We are monitoring on the east coast (where we live now) and then flying back to Southern California (where our embryos are) when my lining is ready. My clinic in California says they can "hold" me on estradiol and Lupron, after the lining is ready, for up to 2 weeks before starting PIO, for scheduling reasons. This is all sort of foreign to me because I've only done a fresh IVF and IUI cycles, and in those, when you're ready, you're ready. So I guess I have 2 questions.

1. Has anyone held your lining a while after it hit 8-9 mm? Why did you do it, and did it work out?

2. Anyone else do a cross-country FET? If you've been there/done that, can you reassure me it can go smoothly? At this point I'm sort of wishing I'd just had them FedEx the embryos out here but the thought of that just made my stomach turn.

I officially have the IF crazies, overanalyzing everything.

After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!

I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.

And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!

Re: FET question

  • I've held my body at a bay a couple times, most recently this cycle. I think my lining was about a 8-9mm and THEN I switched to PIO for another 6 days, then xfer. He said my lining was pretty at xfer, but didn't measure it.  I was really worried, but they said it was fine, and assured me that they could hold me there for longer if needed.  (funny thing is, this is the best cycle we've had yet, lol)

It made me nuts, but from what I hear, it's not that big of a deal. (I googled a LOT, too! lol)

Be kind to yourself, and think positive thoughts as much as possible. (I know....)

ps - can we nickname the baby(ies) Delta? lol.

  • I'm still in the process of getting ready for an FET, but my RE did mention that they could hold me (once I had a good lining) for a while based on what day might work best for me. As I understand it, an FET is MUCH more flexible than a fresh IVF.

    Good luck!!

  • Thanks, ladies. I am going to try to chill a little. Easier said than done for me, esp. on Lupron!
