So I see these cute fun things on pinterest and other blogs, but I never know where the felt comes from. It doesn't look like the el cheapo felt from like hobby lobby (you know 99 cents for a sheet) and it doesn't look like the big rolls of felt fabric from the fabric area either.
So if you have don't these fun projects, where did you get the felt?

not 'felted' which looks cool, but i'm slightly allergic to wool so i doubt i'll be making those
I do have some from Sweden (little trolls super cute)
these are like the quiet books or play sets with flat people and things you can move around on a 'page'

oooh I love those quiet books and felt boards!!! Here's two links I have saved
This one says stiff felt from the craft store

And this one says felt from Michaels:

Take pics if you make one please :-) I'm super curious about them, and wondering how difficult / how much time it takes!
I buy the stuff from Joannes that comes on a roll. Not the expensive real wool felt, just the generic stuff. I think it's called eco something. Working with felt is super easy because it doesn't fray. I posted a tutorial for making those felt letters on my blog if you are interested. It's time consuming, but not difficult. You coud use the same technique to make anything.

I've been chintzy and used cheap felt for projects, then they stretch, fray (get stringy), pill, look not so awesome pretty quickly. I'm converting.
Hancock Fabrics and JoAnns have wool felt, albeit not many options.
Here are some other resources that I have bookmarked. You can also search etsy for wool felt and find a ton of other options that are fairly priced.

ETA: I just saw your note on being allergic to wool. A lot of these resources will also have the wool/poly blend options too. Same high quality - way better than the 4/$1 sheets, but also a bit cheaper too!
Huh. I've never had anything fray, but I blanket stitch around everything. I was doing it because I liked the way it looked, but maybe it's keeping it from fraying too?
This is my experience with the cheap stuff too. Kiarox, you use nicer stuff if you get it off of a bolt.
