I'm having a c-section in 3 weeks and I plan on breastfeeding as soon as I can afterwards. I was wondering if I should take my Boppy pillow to the hospital with me and if it's safe to use after the c section? I was concerned the Boppy might irritate the stitches.
Re: Using a Boppy Pillow after a C-Section?
It's certainly not essential but I LOVE mine! I actually have two. I keep one upstairs and one downstairs (otherwise it would never be where I need it, when I need it!) It has been awesome for more than just breastfeeding too; LO drapped over it for tummy time, used it to prop her up so she wasn't just looking at the ceiling when she was more alert, helped prop her up when she was learning to sit up, etc. Now that E is almost 8 months, she is tall enough to nurse w/o it but we still use it ALL the time!
Good luck to you! You are in for such an amazing adventure!
This pretty much sums it up for my situation too. I took the boppy to the hospital as advised by other moms. My c/s was unplanned (DD was breech) so it definitely came in handy and still use it every day. I had a thick band of tape type stuff that covered the incision. I had more issues with pants, etc rubbing it then the boppy/baby.
