Re: -----Pregnant after 35 Weekly Check-in-----
oops...
Updates: How are you feeling? Any events/news to share? New pregnancy symptoms or any that have disappeared?
I am feeling great. Love the second trimester. Nothing exciting going on really, counting down the weeks until our big u/s
Question of the Week (QOTW): The QOTW comes from Alliapistor (Thank you!): Being an "older" mother, what do you bring to the table now that your 20-something self wouldn't have had/been able to do?The confidence to do what I think is right or best for my child/family and not giving a d@mn whether anyone or any books agree with me.

I'm feeling tired and dreading the heat, but otherwise pretty good.
(QOTW)Being an "older" mother, what do you bring to the table now that your 20-something self wouldn't have had/been able to do? A husband, a home, and a decent income. These are all things that were not present in my childhood so it means a lot to me.Updates: How are you feeling? Any events/news to share? New pregnancy symptoms or any that have disappeared?
oh, the burn ... heartburn that is ... tums (even 10 a night) is just not cutting it anymore. i'm going to buy some prevacid STAT (took it during last pg - it is now OTC). otherwise, feeling good. this boy is SO active ... i really don't remember 'feeling' my first boy this much. i wonder if this means new baby will be more active than DS when he comes out?
Question of the Week (QOTW): The QOTW comes from Alliapistor (Thank you!): Being an "older" mother, what do you bring to the table now that your 20-something self wouldn't have had/been able to do?
a) resources (both financial and emotional)
b) stability (again, both financial and emotional)
c) patience
d) a great DH who i didn't meet until i was 30
e) experience ... i've "been there/done that" ... so i'm not worried that i'm 'missing' something when i spend my saturday nights at home with a baby
and so much more ... there are definitely pros and cons no matter when you have a family ... this is actually a non issue for me since i was not interested nor in the position to be a parent in my 20's
Updates: How are you feeling? Any events/news to share? New pregnancy symptoms or any that have disappeared?
Not much newness. Just counting down the remaining couple of weeks till I can stop taking progesterone.
Question of the Week (QOTW): The QOTW comes from Alliapistor (Thank you!): Being an "older" mother, what do you bring to the table now that your 20-something self wouldn't have had/been able to do?I can definitely provide more financial stability, and a more spiritual upbringing. I'm much more grounded than I used to be, that's for sure. I also think that after years of waiting, IF, and fertility treatments that I'll value this little life even more than I would have.
Symptoms - nothing much new. Still eagerly awaiting the arrival of 2nd tri and hoping that will bring less nausea with it. Will get my NT scan on Friday (will be 11weeks 5 days).
QOTW - I'm hoping more patience and a bit more wisdom. We shall see...
3/11 Clomid-Ovidrel-IUI #1-progesterone= BFN.
5/11 Femara-Bravelle-Ovidrel-IUI#2-progesterone=BFN.
6/11 Femara-Ovidrel-IUI#3-progesterone=BFP!
Beta #1 7/1: 39. Beta #2 7/5: 301 U/S 7/19 - saw HB!!
EDD 3/12/12
DD born 3/5/12
Baby #2 Beta #1 12/16: 439. Beta #2 12/18: 1240
EDD 8/22/15
Symptoms: Nothing really worth mentioning, I feel great!
QOTW: I feel like all the travel and life experiences I've had allow me to share great stories with my future baby and not feel like there are things left "undone." Of course, there is tons more I'd love to do in life, but I've been so lucky to experience so much that I feel satisfied and content.

Updates: How are you feeling? Any events/news to share? New pregnancy symptoms or any that have disappeared?
I'm 21 weeks and change today. The last week I've gained I don't know how much weight....but between getting dressed one morning and changing into my jammies that night I was shocked at how much bigger I was than the day before.
New symptoms: breasts are very sore.....starting to find it difficult to find anything I *want* to eat, and was told yesterday that I had a front-facing placenta.
Question of the Week (QOTW): The QOTW comes from Alliapistor (Thank you!): Being an "older" mother, what do you bring to the table now that your 20-something self wouldn't have had/been able to do?
Financial stability to afford things or at least the financial wisdom to have a buffer between us and the streets. We were living less than paycheck to paycheck when I was a young 20 something.
I am also feeling less "need" for baby items...having gone through it when I was a 20-something I believed every "must have" list there was...I'm a lot calmer about medical things, I'm a lot more realistic going in as to what motherhood during the infant/early months is going to entail. I'm hoping that this will help me through the rough nights, cradle cap and first bouts of baby-sickness.
Updates: How are you feeling? Any events/news to share? New pregnancy symptoms or any that have disappeared? I;m feeling okay this week. Except for the constipation that reared its ugly head yesterday. I had never felt so bad in my life.
Question of the Week (QOTW): The QOTW comes from Alliapistor (Thank you!): Being an "older" mother, what do you bring to the table now that your 20-something self wouldn't have had/been able to do? I would not have had the patience, the financial savvy, nor the education to do the right thing.
Updates: I got my first comment from a stranger about my pregnancy last week. My MIL and I were at Five Guys (you know, getting some iron and protein for the baby ) and when our number was called, I got up to grab our order. As I walked up to the counter the server exclaimed "Preggo!" MIL claims that in the 16 years that she has known me, that it was the first time she has ever seen me blush.
QOTW: What I have to give to the baby now is time. Time and financial security. I spent my 20's slaving away in a series of law firms to pay down $200K of student loan debt (my knot/nest name used to be debtslave). I so hated my job and so needed to get out from under that debt that I would jump on any deal, and work as many hours as demanded. I regularly clocked 18 hour days. I once went 6 months straight without a single day off (including weekends). I lived in my office. How could I have raised a kid during that time? Certainly, I saw plenty of coworkers with children living like that, but I knew it wasn't for me. But now the debt is long gone, we have money in the bank, and I have a very cushy gig that lets me work from home most of the time. I'm so glad that now I'm in a position to a part of my future child's life.

Too early to know sex yet.
Updates: Feeling OK overall but definitely more queasy in the mornings than I was with my first pg. More tired, too. Scan on Monday showed baby is measuring a day ahead, and heartrate was 140 bpm. Yay!
Question of the Week (QOTW): The QOTW comes from Alliapistor (Thank you!): Being an "older" mother, what do you bring to the table now that your 20-something self wouldn't have had/been able to do? I think I bring patience, and a more true appreciation for what an athletic event this is for my body. I am very accepting of the notion that I will gain some weight, lose some skin elasticity, and perhaps not have as cute a belly as the first time around - but... the payoff is unquestionably going to worth it all!
MYBORIMEXBABY ...IM 37 MY 5TH CHILD AND MY DUE DATE WAS CHANGED FROM APRIL 6 2012 TO 14TH IM BUMMED BUT STILL ITS IN APRIL LIKE HUBBY N I PLANNED 1 YEAR AFTER MY SURGERY TO HAVE A BABY AGAIN AFTER I HAD MY TUBES CLIPPED 10 YRS AGO...YAY GOD GRANT ME MY WISH ...ANOTHER BABY!!!
