When thinking of names I always try to imagine the possible repercussions..
I personally think Lexie is a cute name, but I don't think I would like it if my daughter were to be called Sexy Lexie or something equally mortifying.

I'm, honestly, still trying to figure out how you got Lexie out of Alessandra. I mean, maybe I'm not pronouncing it correctly, but there's no X in there.

As someone who was called Lexie when I was younger, "Sexy Lexie" WILL happen, and it is pretty mortifying. Especially when you're 14.
Plus Lexie from Alessandra just doesn't make sense to me. For Alexandra, it makes sense since there's an x, but even though Alessandra is a form of Alexandra, it's NOT Alexandra. It just seems odd. I think Ali/Allie/etc. would be better/more appropriate.

I knew a Lexi in high school. Let's just say she had "been around the block a few times" and yes, she loved calling herself Sexi Lexi and wrote it all over her binders and locker... Gag me. I imagine she still lives in the one-horse town we grew up with and has six illegitimate kids right about now.
I have a friend named Alexis, which I never thought of as being anywhere close to trashy. I did call her Lexi one time and she said it made her feel/sound like a porn star.

I like the nickname Lexi... which is what we call our daughter, though her full name is Alexis. I think it is a really cute nickname. Alessandra is beautiful, but kind of a mouth full for little kids to say.

There are alot of nn's that differ from the fn. ex: Jax for Jackson. Jack for John. etc. that being said. I really like Lexie, Its just alittle overdone for my taste.
My DD's name is Alexis and we call her Lexi all the time. I don't think it sounds trashy or porn star-ish at all. I've never even heard that said before so not sure why anyone would think that...... That said Idk how you get Lexie out of Alessandra??? Makes no sense.
Overall, I think that it's silly when people employ nicknames that star a majority of letters not even present within the name itself. An "x" is not an "s". Only 40% of the nickname is in the actual name.
Also: "Couldn't afford a car so she named her daughter Alexis."
Very rarely do I quote Kanye, but this is always my first thought when I see any derivative of that name.
Re: WDYT of Lexie...
Alessandra = gorgeous, classy, sweet!
Lexie = Trashy, stripper, porn star.

Love Alessandra. I don't like Lexie.
To me, all of the "Lex" names sound like nicknames for 2 disorders: dyslexia and alexia (brain damage causing an inability to read).
I hate the NN Lexie.
Alessandra is NMS, but not awful
