Alright, another name question (a little sad)

My best friend since I was 5 ended her life 10 days after Silvia was born. I'd like to remember her by using her name in my next child's name somehow, whether it be middle or first or incorporated.

Her name was Madeline Leigh

To be honest, I'm not crazy about Leigh as a name at all, but I am willing to use it if it sounds right as a middle. I can't use Madeline or Madison for either a first or middle because our last name sounds and looks like Denim so anything with "n's" and "m's" sounds goofy. For a boy I've considered the middle name Matthew since we called her Matt sometimes, but mostly we called her Maddie. But I'm open to other ideas/suggestions if anyone has them.

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.  I think your idea to use her name as a tribute is beautiful.  How about Leila?

  • What about Caleigh (pronounced like Callie)?

  • I love Leila, but I hesitate since its so popular right now. I didn't even think about names like Annalee and other "lee" and other variations on that. And I like the lee spelling better for some reason. Thanks ladies.

it won't in 3 years. That trend will have (thankfully) passed. I love Rosalie (mostly b/c I love the nn Rosie :)

  • Yeah, and I guess I have to assume that her generation won't even know the book, so its not a big deal. This sounds silly, but I just don't want my friends to think I'm a total Twilight nerd for using the name.

  • Completely off topic, but Cullen was at the top of my boys names and I was afraid of being a Twilight geek too!

Maybe in 5 years it'll be less popular!

I agree. DH was worried about Hannah since he figured people would associate it with Hannah Montana, but these fads change quickly.
