Pregnant after a Loss

Bella band....thoughts??

I am thinking about getting a Bellaband.  Mostly b/c by the end of the day, I HAVE to unbutton my pants!  Anyone try one before?? What are your thoughts? I'm also on the boarderline of 2 sizes (either a 2 or 3).  I usually wear a 12 in pants but in a few, I wear a 14.  So I'm just wondering if I should go w/ the larger size.  I don't want it too snug, but I also don't want to be pulling it up all day.

There's also this feeling that as soon as I buy maternity wear, something terrible will happen, like I'll jinx it.  I hate not being able to be excited :(

Re: Bella band....thoughts??

  • I would go larger, or you prob could always exchange. Also, I know what you mean on maternity wear. My last pregnancy I started wearing and purchasing early and lost my LO. So this time I vowed to wait. Why must we be so superstitious?!

  • Comfort wins for me.... Bella band I used a lot last time and still use it with my more professional outfits, but this time I am embracing wearing maternity clothes.

  • I LOVE my bella band...and I also use it as a little tube type top under dresses or more low cut shirts.

  • I have a bella band, but didn't use it all that much.  I found that I still needed to tug my pants up because they would slide down, even with the band.  But it definitely helps that you can unbutton your non-maternity pants and get more wear out of them.  When you get later on in the pregnancy, nothing will stop that from happening -- you WILL be tugging your pants up all the time, no matter what size/type of maternity pants you are wearing!

  • I got one during my first trimester. I too was on the border of two sizes, and I kept with the smaller size (I wear a 12 sometimes 14 in pants too).

It allowed me to wear my pants until I was 21w. I would leave them unbuttoned/unzipped all the time.

  • I too usually wear a 12 and I bought a be-band (target brand) M/L and have been experimenting with it a little. Although I am only about 8 weeks the bloat has been killer and wearing jeans too long causes me to get a little grouchy...The band is nice except you always have to wear something that is either long enough to completely cover the band and your upzipped jeans or you have to do a lot of creative layering. Also it doesn't really seem to keep my jeans "flat" meaning there is a bulge where the button doesn't close and just seems a little, I don't know...off. Other than that I would say purchase, it doesn't cost a lot and any use you can get out of it will probably we worth the price.

  • I used the Be Band from Target until about 2 weeks ago when I gave in to maternity pants.  I loved the band in the meantime.  I'm also between two sizes and went with the larger one and was very happy.  I think if I went smaller it would have been uncomfortable and I would have been worried about it rolling up.

  • You were in between the same two sizes I was (ahh, the memories...)

I'd recommend going with the larger size.  I got an off-name brand for mine, but you can always fold it in half heightwise and it will feel tighter.

  • I am a size 8 in pants & got the BeBand in a M/L because I have been feeling so bloated and didn't want something too tight. It *might* be a little big, but I don't have anything to compare it to. It has worked so far - today is the first full day I've worn it, but I have no complaints. I double it up for now, which keeps it tighter & makes it a lot less obvious that I'm wearing it. It's pretty comfortable and certainly better than having to keep jeans buttoned at this point!
  • The Bellaband worked well for me on weekends but I had a lot of problems with it during my work week because of a very active job (pediatric physical therapist).  It would roll and slide and not stay in place very well during the day so I ended up doing the hair tie through the belt loop plus b-band just as a cover-up for the open pants.  An extra long tank would do the same and can layer under your tops the same way.  It depends on how active you are throughout the day how well they work.

  • Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. I think I'm gonna go w/ the larger size and just fold it in half if I need to.  I may have to go w/ what someone suggested and still do the hair-tie thing, cuz I work w/ kinders and you know I'm either squatting, sitting on the floor w/ them, or in tiny chairs all day :) Thanks!!!
  • If you aren't comfortable buying maternity clothes yet, I would go for a Bella Band.  They are very effective, although I did sometimes have a difficult time with it staying in place.  I would probably go up a size.
