Out of towner... Cakes in Buffalo area

Hi Ladies,

I live in South FL and will be going to Lockport, NY for my daughter's 2nd Bday in two weeks.  We are cutting a cake at Krull park but I am not sure where to order a cake from.  My MIL suggested either Tops or Wegmans but I am big on researching and would like to hear other opinions or if these are good options.

I only want a non decorated (just frosting) double layer sheet cake.  My sister makes cakes here in FL and will be making all the decorations in Fondant for me to take and decorate so basically I just want to make sure I get a good tasting cake and frosting!

The person who did my wedding cake is actually from Lockport, but I don't know if she does just regular birthday cakes or if she'd be able to do it at such short notice.. Muscoreils is always a popular choice and not too terribly far from Lockport.  https://www.muscoreils.com/ I have never been super impressed with their cakes, but they're not bad.

We ordered my DD's christening cake from Daily's catering in East Aurora and it was AMAZING, but it would be a really long hike to lockport with it.   https://www.dailyscatering.com/index.php?news&nid=2

Tops cake grosses me out.. I've always liked wegmans but they've just changed their frosting.. haven't tried it.. but its probably still good. 

Other places you could check into are Dessert Deli and Butterwood. (Did someone just say that Butterwood in Williamsville is closed?)

if you are looking for just a basic sheet cake, I say Wegmans is your best option. All the places Melissa mentioned above are good, but much more expensive. IMO, if you order from there it's for a specialty cake. I'm sure they have cheaper sheet cakes, but still much more than Wegmans.

Wegmans did just change their frosting, and it's now made w/ no trans fats. I tried a sample (of the chocolate buttercream) in the store and it was good!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I called Carol and she will do it for me, suprisingly less than Wegmans!  She is charging me very little, but that is only because I am decorating it myself, still only 7 bucks more than Tops and 14 less than Wegmans whom were also quoting me on a non decorated cake.

She is only 10 mins away from my in-laws so this really worked out great.

Agree on the Tops cake, I tried it once and I did not like it at all.

Oh good! So glad she can do it for you. She is such a sweet lady.  I think you'll be very happy with the cake!
