Anyone else's LO have night terrors/nightmares?

I was holding Silvie as she slept today (she woke up in her crib screaming so I brought her downstairs with me) and she had a nightmare in my arms. I couldn't wake her up! I tried talking to her, and touching her arms and face, and NOTHING worked. She just kept whimpering and eventually broke out with an all out soundless cry that led to a sob with real tears. Then, of course, was when she woke up.

Anyone else have this issue? What do you do (if there is anything?)

  • Since you couldn't wake her up, it sounds like a night terror.  There really isn't anything you can do except just let them sleep.  With night terrors, they don't remember them when they wake up anyways.  Usually they just have to grow out of them.

  • This has happened to us a couple times and it is so heartbreaking. I really hope they grow out of them because I hate it!
