D.C. Area Babies

Stairs?

This is purely a vent - DS was early to mobility, he started army crawling at 5 months, he's now 7 months and a wicked fast crawler. A few weeks ago he started pulling up and last night he started climbing up the stairs.  We have gates on the stairs going down from the main level, but nothing on the stairs going up since DD traverses them so often.  Agghhh... DD was so cautious and started crawling at 8 months and walking at 14 - at this rate DS will be walking by 9 months and he is quite the adventurous dare devil.  He's going to make me go gray long before my time.....

Sofka, I know you had two early walkers, you really are my hero.  I feel like I missed out on the leave a baby on the blanket while you get things done stage.

Re: Stairs?

  • we have the same issue b/c DS is now very interested in running towards the stairs and climbing up them. I think DD did it too but it was easier to manage b/c she was the only one! Today, I said to to DH that we may need to get a gate for the downstairs b/c we only have the one upstairs like you.

yea, I had a very short "leave the baby" stage both times

  • Loading the player...
  • My DD was crawling at just over 4 months, and solidly walking at 10 months.

At 6 months, she climbed up onto the back of the couch and stood up against the wall.  LOL.

Now, at 2.5 years, she still climbs on everything (including me... she holds my hands, and climbs up my body until she's standing on my shoulders... lol)

    So... I have a daredevil, too...  :)  It's fun.

    You'll be fine!

  • DS was an early crawler and walker,  figured out the stair gates at 14 months, and started walking up and down the stairs at the same time.  At the time, I bemoaned my fate as I constantly chased him around.  Now that I've got a kid that still isn't crawling at 9.5 months old though, I kind of wish I had him back.  She needs me to do freaking everything for her.  DS was taking steps by this age.  She gets on her belly, forgets how to get back up to a sitting position (she can do it about 70% of the time) and screams.  ::sigh::

I guess that was a vent on top of your vent.  Sorry!
