Varicocele ...low morphology..suggest me

I have varicocele in my left testicle found on february 2011. I have two semen analysis done. One on july 15 2011 and second on august 15 2011. I am goin to marry in six months so i want to correct varicocele as its not too much painful but a strange feeling of ache lives there every time i feel worried all the time cant concentrate on work. Result of semen analysis are:

First one SA result:

Volume 3.5ml

motility 50%

Sperm count : 47 M/ml

Morphology :H*65( That is only 35% normal forms)

Second SA after one month:

Volume 2.5 ml

motility : 50%

sperm count : 156.5 M/ml

Morphology: H*75( only 25 % normal forms)

After having the first SA i met my urologist he said that the  every thing is OK but morphology is bad you need atleast 60 % normal forms. So he also told that its not because of Varicocele its just the way your testicles are functioning . So varicocele is not reason. But i read online and found that varicocele cause low morphology. According to Kruger creteria my morphology is fine but WHO says its not.

Second time it decreased but i took more precautions in diet and lifestyle.

I am going to see second urologist for second opinion. Now suggest me i should go for surgery of varicocele as  i feel heaviness and ache while sitting. I cant go to gym.???

Second point is for checking that i am fertile or not do i need to see some other kind of doctor than Urologist?

Please help....

  • A second opinion is always a good idea.

If you're feeling discomfort, this is something that IMO should be addressed.

I wouldn't worry about Kruger vs WHO criteria. One is more stringent than the other. DH was borderline on one and within normal limits on another and our RE was fine with it.

I'd stick with a urologist for now, but maybe find someone who specializes in this sort of thing. If you and your wife have issues TTC down the road, you can take your results to a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) who will likely re-test anyway.
