Cell phone number question

Does your cell phone number's area code match the area code of your home phone? I was looking at the contact list for DS's soccer team, and most of the cell phone numbers area codes match the home number. DH's and mine don't match our home area code or each others. DH got his number when he lived outstate, and mine is from my parent's area code. I wonder if that could confuse things later for DS.

Re: Cell phone number question

  • No, but we only use our home phone for DH's work calls. We've only taught the kids our cell numbers and my cell number is only one number off DH's, his ends in 55 and mine ends in 56.

  • My cell matches my landline but my husband's cell doesn't since he's had his cell number since cell phones came out and he lived in a different area code back then.  I don't think it will be confusing because how many numbers do you expect him to memorize at first.  Just start out by having him memorize his home number.  My kids have our home number memorized and then we have the cell numbers written down for them in case they have to use them.

  • No, but that's pretty common in my area. In a 15 mile radius in my metro, there are 4 area codes.
  • Mine don't match. I was living in a different state when I first got my cell phone.

  • No.  Mine is from my first phone in 1999 when I lived in Boston.  My area code changed while I still lived in the Boston area and now in Colorado, but I've kept the same number.

This. Add to that that I am less than 10 minutes away from 2 neighboring states and in any given day I could dial 7 different area codes just talking to my close friends and family.

  • Currently, yes, both of our cell phone numbers have the same area code as our home phone. That will no longer be the case once we move into a house since the area we are looking at is in a different county with a different area code.
