Does Hudson sound trendy to you? I love it, though it seems trendy and modern. However, DH's 4th great uncle (b. 1799) was named Hudson (we know this b/c DH's uncle did a family tree - very cool). So...that gives me a totally different sense. Sure, maybe it's gaining popularity right now, but if someone in the 18th century had the name it's got some history behind it...which makes me like it even more. I just wonder if it comes across to others as modern and trendy, you know?

Re: Hudson = trendy?
I agree
This.
To the data!
Hudson was in and out of the top 1,000 before 1920. Then, it dropped out for many decades, reappearing at #998 in 1995. In the past 15 years, it has soared upward: #587 in 2000, #276 in 2005, and #138 in 2010.
So yes, it is trendy. But if you like it and it is a family name, you might as well use it.

Very trendy. Most boy's names ending with -n (esp. -son or -en) are.
I like family names, but 4th uncle is a pretty distant relative. Unless you mean that it feels more legitimate to you because it's been around so long? I suppose that's fair....but it's still trendy.

Yeah, it seems less trendy, more classic b/c of the fact that it's been around for so long...vs. a surname that recently became a first name as part of a trend. There's not a lot of significance to me with it going that far back in the family tree.
