Tired....*warning*-work vent

I work 11 hour shifts....except weekends are "normal" 8 hour shifts.  The long shifts are killer and I do at least 3 a week...  These shifts are mostly on my feet all day, and I don't get any breaks except lulls during the workday when I can sit.  Each day is unpredictable.

My company has lots of open shifts, I am constantly pressured to pick up shifts.  But I'm SO tired on my few days off midweek and I really need the weekends I get off to recoup.....I hate feeling like I need to work more when I am already so tired and sore from working.

I wonder if I should get a note from my OB that says I can't work overtime....haha.  At least I wouldn't feel *as* guilty saying "No" when I'm asked... Stick out tongue

Get the note - or better yet, just shed the guilt and say no.

  • I would absolutely get a note if I was you.  I got a note to stop traveling pretty early on because it was so incredibly exhausting while pregnant.  You need to put you and the babies first.

  • Sorry, but I think you must work with @ssholes if they're asking someone pg with twins to work extra shifts.  Get the note and maybe they'll leave you alone.
  • get the note!

you want to keep those kiddos cooking!!

  • Here's another vote to get the note.  My doctor was more than happy to write a note saying I can't coach soccer this fall. (I'm a teacher).  I wanted to avoid it out of laziness/ tiredness more than anything, but when he found out I was supposed to coach, he said that this was NOT the year to be doing that.  I bet your doc would be more than happy to write the same thing.
