I am almost 38 weeks and I am 80% with 1 cm dialation and my doctor stripped my membranes yesterday. Anyone experience this and how long did it take you to go into labor. Dr said I could expect 3 days to a week. I'm just wondering what other people's experience has been.
Re: How long after your membranes were stripped
With DS1, I was dilated 3cm and 50% effaced the week of his due date. ON his due date, she stripped my membranes. He came four days later. Whether or not it had anything to do with the membranes being stripped, who knows.
They didn't have to do anything for DS2 cause he came on his due date.
With my DD, they stripped my membranes on a Wednesday (morning appt) and my water broke Friday morning around 4:30 AM (3:30 AM I lost some of the mucus plug). The contractions kicked in around 5/6 AM.
So less than 48-hours for me.
Good Luck!!!
FTM here too and I thought it was early as well.
TTC since 10/07
11 medicated cycles
including...
4 IUIs*5 IVFs*1 FET
2 chemical pregnancies*missed m/c @8w 9/09*missed (twin) m/c @8w 5/10
Laparoscopic myomectomy 8/10
Chromosomal translocation of #2 now requires ICSI and PGD
IVF #4= success!!! G-man born 8/18/11
IVF #5 2/2013 = N born 10/10/13 at 35w3d
iv'e been told now by several drs that if it works, it works in about 36-48 hrs.
i'll be asking for it to be done at 38 weeks because my dr will induce me at 39, and i'd rather have that done than be induced.
I agree, it does seem early. I've been on bedrest since early May for high blood pressure. My bp stabilized but has started spiking again, so her thinking was try to get things going sooner rather than later with induction.
Thanks for sharing your experiences ladies!
Ahhhh ok that makes more sense. Good luck!
