Freaking out a little: subchorionic hemorrhage

Hey ladies, I am pregnant with #2 and have been spotting for over a week now. Had an u/s today (had one last monday too) and found a subchorionic hemorrhage. Told me to go on pelvic rest, but googling info on it has just made me more anxious. Anyone experience this for better or worse? Please share. I want the honest truth.

  • I personally haven't experienced it. My best friend however, is 20 weeks along as of yesterday. She had already had a previous miscarriage and so the subchronic hemorrhage really had her stressed out. Things are looking good now and she's been taken off of her pelvic rest. I'm sure its near impossible, but try not to stress out too much. I wish you a happy and healthy 9 months!

  • I'm sorry you are going through this.  I had one with my LO.  It was the most stressful thing (especially since I had a miscarriage a few months before).  I spotted/bled everyday from week 5 to week 12.  LO was born last April and is perfect!  I wish you all the best!

  • I had a large one with this pregnancy at around 8 weeks that landed me in the ER due to the amount of blood loss. By my nt scan it was completely gone. Googling totally freaked me out, but my midwife was very reassuring and helpful with my questions.

  • I had one with DD2.  I started bleeding at 12 weeks, and then had a gush of blood.  I had lost my first baby, and I was pretty sure it was another m/c.  But an u/s showed a healthy baby with a heartbeat.  The tech said I had complete previa (many do so early on) and that's what had caused the bleeding.  She was a moron.  Anyway, the bleeding stopped and didn't come back.  I had a follow-up u/s at 18 weeks, and the previa had resolved, and the high-risk OB who did the u/s told me that the bleeding had been caused by an SCH - she could see the "residue" of it on the u/s.

DD2 was born at 39w4d, perfectly healthy.

  • Google will freak you out! I had it during my first tri and it went away by my 12 week ultrasound.. i didnt bleed it out but my body absorbed the blood. Im 34 weeks now and everything is healthy. Dont worry, it bleeding out is a good thing!! You should have another ultrasound soon by doctor and they will check it out. My doctor wasent worried at all and he never put me on any kind of rest. You will be ok!!

  • I had one with both pregnancies. I bled for about two months with #2 but had no "real" issues with the pregnancy (other than being scared sh!tless for 2 months). The SCH stayed the whole pregnancy and could be seen during my c section. Once my bleeding stopped I was taken off pelvic rest. I also saw a MFM a few times to keep an eye on it.

Hope it clears up soon for you!

  • I  had it with both pregnancies.  With DD It lasted the entire pregnancy starting at about 8 weeks.  With DS I had one around 4 weeks and then they didnt' see it again.  Both pregnancies were great and no other complications.  Good luck!  Try not to be nervous
