Pacifier tips?

DS LOVES his new pacifier... he has a very strong sucking need.  We just introduced the paci a couple days ago, and I'm wondering if people have tips for the best thing to do when it falls out and the baby starts squealing?  I do NOT want to get in the habit of replacing it every time-- that seems like a recipe for disaster.  So what do we do??  Help!

Re: Pacifier tips?

  • They do make these little stuffed animals to help them grasp them and hold them, but it is really for older babies. You're pretty much stuck with being the official paci replacer for a while. To train them to suck enough to keep it in, the best advice I've heard is to pull on it gently - it makes them think you're taking it and they will suck harder to keep it. They will start to learn to do the same when you aren't pulling.

Oh, and if you want to check out the stuffed toys, my aunt sells them so I guess I'll plug hers: https://bbftoys.com/index.html
