Baby Names

which baby girl name?

We have narrowed it down to three names for our baby girl.

Penelope (Penny)

Maisie (this is my husbands favorite, I know it is cutesy and may not age very well but such is true for a lot of little girl names)

Annabelle (this has always been our favorite but my husband isnt loving is as much lately)

Re: which baby girl name?

  • LOVE Penelope. It is cute, spunky and ages well.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I love Penelope. I do not like Maisie at all and can't imagine an adult woman with that name.

  • Penelope is the best

Maisie- reminds me of the sour cream brand

Annabelle- reminds me of the poem

  • We were thinking of Maisie going by mae, especially with the 2 syllable middle and last name.  Annabelle would go by anna or nena and penelope penny.   Also maybe it is wishful thinking but with all the popularity of Ruby and Lily I guess I figured Maisie wasnt too cutesy and would kind of fit in as her generation grows.
  • Penelope.

I know a little girl IRL that is a Maisie though it it is very very sweet and fully suits her.  I think that no matter what, if you end up with a Maisie, that she will just be Maisie when she's older and no one will think anything of it.

  • not a fan of any
  • I know someone who named their daughter Margaret and her nickname is Maisie.  It works well, I think.

     May-zee Rhymes with Daisy

  • Maisie isn't a bad nn but I don't like it at all as a standalone first name.

    I prefer Annabelle.

Thanks, I was curious.  I have never heard of that name!  I think of all of your choices I would pick Penelope.

  • I love all three names!

I adore Maisie. Have you considered using it as a nickname for Mary? That is, if you're concerned about cutesiness. I think it's more old fashioned, and I like it.

You should take all three names to the hospital and see who she is. You really can't go wrong with your choices.

  • Annabelle. It's the only one that doesn't sound totally frumpy and/or like a farm animal's name.

I thought it was really funny that you posted this because I was just going to post that Annabelle reminds me of a cow. Only because I grew up in farm country and met many Annabelle cows in my youth.

I love Penelope nn Penny. Super cute!

  • LOVE Penelope, and I think it is the most flexibel of the 3.

I think Maisie is adorable (but I would spell it Maisy), but I agree that it might not age well.

    I strongly dislike Annabelle.

  • Penelope and Annabelle are on my list. Annabelle is a family name from both my materal and paternal families.

Maisie makes me think of a cow.

  • LOL I also think of cow when I hear the name Annabelle.  So funny that someone said it didn't bring a farm animal to mind!

  • I actually think they're all cute. My favorite might be Maisie/Mae.
  • I have an Annabel, so that obviously gets my vote :)  I loooove Penelope!  Maisie was on my list, but I don't care for it at all these days.
