Ergo users - Am I doing something wrong?

I don't normally post here but I thought you ladies would be able to help me out.

I just bought an Ergo to use with my 1 year old.  When I put it on the clips from the shoulder straps hit right at my arm pit, it's really uncomfortable.  If I loosen those straps the clips still hit at the back of my arm and it's uncomfortable (and it seems too loose).

Please help!

  • Can you slide them up or down? I'm not sure what clips you're referring to, and are you doing a front or back carry?

  • Front carry, no the clips (buckles?) don't slide.

  • I think I need to see a pic.

I just put mine on trying to figure out what buckle could be the issue, and I can't figure how how the strap buckles/adustable part could be rubbing your armpit. mine are nowhere near there.

  • What style of Ergo do you have? I have the Sport and the buckles do slide up. It should be pretty snug on your shoulders.

I have this one.  You can see the buckle/clip on the shoulder strap.  It hits the model at the underarm too, maybe it's just me that it's uncomfortable?

  • I have the sport version, but I think the straps are the same.  For me, the buckle is a solid 4 inches down from my armpit, more along the side of my breast level.  I'm not sure what to tell you...

  • Where do you have the chest clip?  Have you tried raising or lowering it to see if that helps pull it away from your armpit?
  • Ah. I think I get it. How low is the waist strap? It should be on your hips - the widest part of your waist. It sounds like you might have the waist strap up above your hips where your waist is skinny. Having it up too high will make the shoulder straps closer to your arm pit. I've heard other moms complain about the same thing until they adjusted the waist level.

    I think Bliss is right.

I think Bliss is right.  Also, try to fool with the "chest strap" across your shoulders to move it up or down to the comfortable spot.

The Ergo is the most comfortable soft carrier I have- it should NOT be uncomfortable for you.

No problem! I've seen that done a lot. It's not obvious that the waist strap should be so low. I did the same thing when I first got mine  Big Smile
