I am 26 weeks n 2 days with my second daughter. With my first i was dead set on a natural birth after 23 hours of labor i was only dialated at 8 and my baby decided she was not comming out she was turned the wrong way n my water had been broken for to long so they took her by csection. So when i found out i was pregnant i started reading up on VBAC i was told with my situation i would probably be a good canidate. Later i found out that i am rh- so now i am a "high risk pregnancy" I would just like to know what everyone thinks would be best im really afriad that something will go wrong. Also which does everyone think is easier to go through a csection or vbac?
Re: What to do?
My personal view on c/s vs VBAC is that a woman's body is designed to give birth. Our bodies are not designed for major abdominal surgery. The risks associated with such major surgery are pretty big, and the recovery time and pain are much more significant.
For me, I don't want another c/s (unless it is a true emergency). I hated having planned a natural, med free birth and then ended up having no part of my son's birth. Every VBAC birth story I've read has said how much better the VBAC experience was compared to the c/s, and how much faster and easier the recovery was! That is something I think of a lot since I will have a 2 year old this time around.
I think the risks are the same for RH- for VBAC or c/s since the concern is a mixing of blood, right? Seems like it would be higher for a c/s since baby is more likely to be nicked. Have you discussed all this with your doctor, what is their opinion?
