Hi ladies! I was here a few months ago before miscarrying in March (and I know some of you from 3T
) We got our BFP on our first IUI back after the m/c, so for that I am extremely grateful. It was a very long few months. I've just been kind of a lurking the last few weeks because I've been so nervous about this time around and the m/s is kicking my ass.
I had a bit of a scare of Friday- I woke up with some light bleeding and while I tried to calm myself down and convince myself it is perfectly normal, I was freaking out after our last loss. Our amazing RE took us like an hour later and we saw the hb- so far so good. But I realized that I could really use the support right now and some advice.
Anyway... I know that m/s is a healthy sign, but I am miserable. I am nauseous 24/7 and I have tried everything I can think of- ginger ale, saltines, sea bands, relief bands, ginger gum, sour candy... it's really not helping. I feel like it's tough to function like this, I'm a mess. I called my ob's office to make an appointment and asked if she ok'ed anything like a half a tab of unisom, or emetrol or dramamine... the assistant literally said "Have you tried saltines?" I wanted to reach through the phone and choke her.
Any secrets out there? And does anyone have a doctor who recommended unisom or something otc? I finally broke down last night and took a half a dramamine because I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep and I was so exhausted I started crying. It helped a lot and I woke up feeling better than I had as well. Of course it's back full force again... just wanted to see what you girls were doing. Thanks!

The only thing that helped my m/s a bit was ice, or ice cold water, or ice cold soda. And eating something every half hour, even if just a bite of something. I hope you get feeling better soon m/s is absolutely miserable.

ugh, m/s is the *worst*, i'm sorry you are dealing with it. like you, i had it all day, worst in the evening.
if it makes you feel better, my doctor's OK to take list included a 1/2 tab of unisom, and boy did that knock me out for the evening. the effects never lasted into the morning - ie, i woke up nauseous. but it helped me sleep through the nausea.
eventually i called and begged and cried for zofran and it definitely helped. just be sure to take a colace with it b/c it will stop you up.
also, just be sure to stay hydrated (though don't chug water, just small sips, b/c too much at once might make you hurl), and eat whenever you are hungry b/c hunger can make nauseous worse.
feel better!
luft!!!! i am so happy to see you back
i didn't have the m/s so bad so my tricks will probably seem elementary to you- lemon in my water, wintergreen gum etc. a friend of mine though had it so bad she was throwing up blood and she SWEARS by the zofran. I would run, don't walk, to get that Rx.
hang in there!
Glad to have you back!
ZOFRAN! I was bad like you and thought it was the end of the world. I took the pills for a few weeks but had to be put on a Zofran pump that gave me a dose every hour. I am so grateful for it! It got me through the first 13 weeks then things got better!
Feel better!
Thanks girls
I am hesitant to ask for Zofran because I thought it was reserved for those that have m/s so bad that they end up in the hospital or can't keep anything down? My issue is just the constant, nonstop nausea- I've only thrown up a few times. I can eat some things, but the nausea just never goes away.

This does make me feel a lot better. I am so hesitant to take anything, but I need to be able to settle my stomach enough to get some sleep. It's hard enough functioning while nauseous, but lack of sleep on top of that- I'm just a mess
After 2 1/2 years TTC, 3 IUI's, endo, and a lap, a surprise BFP brought us Alexandra Marie!

Baby Evangeline is here!
I never threw up once, but took zofran twice a day for about 4 weeks. I'd call whoever will write it for you as soon as possible. It's safe, so there's no reason anyone should give you crap about prescribing it. And I'd have tried to choke whoever told you to take saltines too!
Oh, and big congrats on your pregnancy!

i was getting pretty nauseous in the afternoon/evening in the beginning as well... it's definitely no fun. I agree with the lemon/lemonade. I also heard potato chips. For a few weeks I kept crackers on my nightstand and had a few before even sitting up, that seemed to help a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if you have tried all of this, and if you have, sorry for sounding like the "have you tried saltines?" lady
Don't be afraid to ask for Zofran though... good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon!
Congratulations and welcome back

Do you drink it flat or just regular? The assistant at my RE's office said that they sell that coke syrup at the pharmacy and it helped a little for her. I just picked up a coke after lunch... let's see what happens!
I added lemonade and potato chips to the list! Thank you
(and trust me, you didn't sound at all like the saltines lady lol)
Thank you!!! I cannot even look at ginger ale anymore, I am so sick of it!! lol But I do have a big bag of sour patch kids in my bag. They are kind of hit or miss for me...
How are you feeling? I can't believe you are so far along already!
