What do you think? Would the initials VD deter you enough from giving your child a V-name? I have quite a few V-names on my list and can't decide if I'm just setting my future child up for inevitable torture...
It depends I guess. Is there a middle initial in there somewhere? I think V as a first initial and D as the last with some kind of MN in there wouldn't be too torture worthy at all
I always avoid weird initials, I have a thing with monograms. What about the MN?
TTK 9/06 / TTC 10/08 / Twins 12/11 / Life Blog 5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl), FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w, twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest Our twins born @36w4d via CS when A came foot first
Thanks for your replies. There will definitely be a middle name (which is still undetermined), so it wouldn't just be VD. I didn't think VD was a very common term anymore, but it's just not something I would want people to relate to my daughter's name. Glad to know most people wouldn't think much of it, though.
If you're going to have a middle name, I wouldn't worry about it. How often do kids use their initials anyway? I think those monogrammed LL Bean backpacks are out of style (aren't they?)

As long as there's a MN its fine. A guy I work with has the initials VD, which he doesn't like, but he just named his daughter Vivienne Elle, so her initials are VED.
My bestie growing up was Veronica D___. She was very popular and her initials weren't an issue. I say go for it.
Thanks for your reply! I was just wondering, where did you get your adorable DD's Alice in Wonderland shirt? We're planning a Mad-Hatter themed tea party for DD's 2nd birthday, and this would be perfect!

We ruled out all V names for this exact reason. And when we tell people we're not using any V names they immediately get why, so I think it's a lot more obvious than some of the posters here are giving credit.
Re: The initials VD
Call me stupid, but I had to google VD to even see what it stood for..

Thankful for every day
This. I think most people say STD, now. You'll be fine.

There are worse initials.
***, ASS, DUM, TIT, VAG, PEE.

I don't think so.
There is nothing wrong with the initials VD. I think you are over thinking it.
