Okay, so the science behind the douche..LOL...okay really..

Female x sperm thrives in a more acidic environment and there for can be expected to die off due to a more basic environment.

Male sperm y the opposite..thrives in a basic environment and tend to die off in a more acidic environment....

So....like it or not a basic solution is the baking soda vs a vinegar douche but IMO diet can also help and reduce the risk of causing an infection. Eating more meat and potatoes to naturally produce a more basic environment would also be a better idea

Also, Male sperm die more earlier then female sperm but is much more lively and vigorous then female sperm so the "theory" is to have sex as close to O day as possible in hopes that they get to the egg before the slower, longer living female sperm.

In the fertility/reproduction part of my Anatomy class we talked about this. There have been studies linked to men consuming caffeinated drinks 30-60 minutes before sex to "hype" up the sperm. That study showed that the male sperm was more affected by the caffeine then the female sperm and swam further.

Not, getting in this one just wanted to let you all know what the science behind this is supposed to be..

 Ok, I will give you credit for trying and you are partly right on the timing of intercourse closer to ovulation for a boy (Shettles method, look it up for a more educated method of gender selection), but the rest of what you wrote is a bunch of fooey.  The position you do it in nor what you douche with has anything to do with it, thats pretty ridiculous.  Lots of women here would be happy with any baby but thanks for providing them with a laugh.

For real?   I am seriously dying of laughter right now.  I hope your Dr. also told you that by douching it can possibly cause a yeast infection and or worse pelvic inflammatory disease which can cause infertility.

Or worse, you could wind up with magma vag.

I think there is some truth to what you are saying, but the Internet acts as a sort of buffer. If I knew someone in real life, even casually, and in the discussions about conception she mentioned to me that she intended to time sex, and douche with a massive amount of baking-soda-littered water, I'd be horrified, but I'd express my concern in a more kind way. 

So let's try this again, but nice.

 

Sweetheart, even the Shettles method has been found to be flawed. Not only were Shettles' own results not duplicated by scientists, but they found that following that method was likely to reduce the odds of getting pregnant. This is all stuff that is easily discovered with the most basic of Google searches.  In addition, the pH balance of your vagina is precarious, and you don't want to introduce that much water and baking soda into that environment. It's just begging for an infection, which will do nothing to improve your odds of conceiving. 

 

 

Does the information seem more palatable when presented that way? Because it was still "You're an Idiot", just presented with some sugar-coating.

Ok, I will throw this poor girl a bit of a life line.  I have heard of some of this, it's called "swaying" for a boy or a girl.   A lot of it, as I understand, is diet and timing, but I do remember someone telling me about some sort of douch involving limes.  I haven't heard anyone mention it in years, but I do rememer hearing some stories like this when TTC #1. 

But yeah, limes and baking soda, that just can't be good for your vajay.

My hubby did the caffinated bev. thing and if it didn't work it made for some extra fun in the sack LOL! besides, you don't know what your bodies natural PH is so you don't want to mess with it and be dealing with an infection..GL

Don't you think if these "methods" actually worked people would do it all the time to get the sex they desired? There is one thing that does indeed work, it's called gender selection and it gets a huge side eye from me. There are doctors (most outside of this country) that will implant you with the sex you want, it's costly and not guaranteed that you will get pregnant and stay pregnant.

You make no sense.

According to the Shettles method, you're more likely (but never guaranteed) to have a boy if you have sex only as close to your ovulation date.  Reason: male sperm swim faster (but die quicker) and you'd want them to reach the egg first.  So, you would hold off as long as you can and TRY to only have sex right before ovulation.  Maybe the day or or the day before, but not several days before.

From what I hear though, it's still about 50/50 chance of boy/girl.  And it's a good way to not get pregnant cause you're having sex too late.

Day 9 is meaningless.

That's not actually what she meant. Sperm are actually male or female. She is correct, female sperm do live longer and male sperm are faster. You should watch The Great Sperm Race on Youtube.

Are you serious?  She means sperm that hold XX chromosomes, thus determining the baby to be female.  

Holy hell.  Comprehension fail.

Sperm have an X or a Y.  The egg has an X.  X + X = girl  X + Y = boy.

I am aware of the same theory about the acidic-female and basic-male.  Of course in the end its all chance.

I decided to catch up on all the stuff I've missed on TTGP and this def takes the cake. OP you should Google the shettles method. There is nothing wrong with wanting a boy or girl, but the way you are writing your "recipe" makes you sound a lil cray cray. Good luck!
