I really like the name Fin but how do you feel about the full name Finnegan? I am really into 3 letter names ! You could just keep it short right and just go with Fin?
I always feel a child should be given a full name even if you never intend to use it.
I agree with this. I also like Finn better than Fin (which looks a bit fishy to me). I think about what would sound best on my son's college graduation day... would this name sound like the name of a boy or a man? Finn as a NN has this sort of rakish charm in my opinion, but I think that's deluded when it's his full name.
But then again, I feel the same way about Liam not being a nickname for William, and plenty of people feel perfectly comfortable with that... so take it for what it's worth!
I think Fin is super cute What about short for Finley? I'd go for a longer name, but then just always call him Fin. But do what you feel is right! If you love just Fin, go for it. There's lots of people choosing Matt or Ben, etc for the full names of the kids. Why not Fin?

I'm not sure why I agree with this, but I do. I don't love the name Finnegan, but it seems like the name Fin needs a full name. I like Fin though.

I think Finn can stand alone (but the one N does look bizarre and fishy)
but if you want it as a NN, I prefer Phineas to Finnegan.
I don't think Finnegan can be pretentious it remindes me of the little dog puppet from Mr. Dress-up
I like Fin I think it works!
