Washing other poopy items with CDs

Ever do it?  If not, what are your tips for getting NB poop stains out of other items? 

I had a very poopy receiving blanket yesterday and decided to throw it in with diapers not normal laundry, mostly so that I could dry it and bleach it in the sun with the diapers.  I feel like this is sort of icky, yet when I put clothes with poop into the normal wash, then take them out of dryer with stains on them, I wish I had remembered to sun them when wet still...

I did it when DD still pooped all over the place.  My logic was that it made more sense to wash the poppy items with other poopy items vs. non-poopy clothes.  And I definitely sunned them with the diapers.
