D.C. Area Babies

why am I just now finding out how awesome glen echo park is?!

And summer is almost over!!

We went yesterday on a whim to check it out & had a lovely time.  A carousel ride (onlny 1.25pp!!) followed by sharing some ice cream and going on the swings.  Next time we'll try to time it for their puppet show for younger kids (geared to 0-4 year olds & only $5pp) and bring a picnic.

If you've never gone, I really recommend as something not very expensive and a fun afternoon!

  • Thanks so much for posting. I've always wondered what type of stuff they had there because we pass it alot but I've never gone in.

I just looked up the website for when the puppet shows are. Here's the link to the listing. Just scroll down to see the section on puppet shows. I may try to take DD next Sat.

  • in addition to the puppet show & carousel, there are *lots* of picnic tables and a small-ish playground (maybe 4 swings, a climbing thing, spinning things for older kids, etc.), a "cafe" that had drinks, ice cream, coffee, popcorn, candy, pb&j, hot dogs & pizza and there was also some sort of nature walk/overlook that you access from the glen echo parking lot but I'm not sure how kid-friendly/fun that is.

there are also several studios/galleries that were open when we were there, but it was more of a someone-stays-outside-with-the-baby kinda situation.

Good to know. Maybe we'll do a picnic there one day.

  • It is the neatest place! I can't wait until LO is old enough to appreciate the puppet shows and Adventure Theater and the carousel.

  • We love it there too...it is on our regular weekend rotation. Love the playground and carousel and even the beautiful walk over the stream to get there. A fantastic place!

  • I keep on forgetting about the puppet shows.  I may try to take DD on Sat as well.  Impromptu GTG anyone?
