Ive been told that having 2 children so close in age is hard on your body. And that the second child can be smaller and come much quicker due to the short time in between pregnancies. Anyone experience this?
DS was 3oz smaller than DD, but I doubt that has anything to do with having him 19-1/2 months after DD. Even now, 15 months later he's still a peanut both in weight and height were as at this point DD was a bit heavier and much taller.
As far as coming quicker, DS came earlier but only because he was a repeat c-section.

Drew was 8 lbs 3 oz and Lizzy was 8 lbs 1 oz - I consider that to be a negligible difference. She did come faster, but I've been told by many OB nurses, mothers, and L&D staff that each subsequent baby comes quicker - no matter how long it's been between pregnancies.
My DD #1 was 6 lbs 15 oz 20 inches in length and my labor was 2 hours and 46 minutes DD #2 was 9 lbs 6.7 oz 20.5 inches in length and my labor was roughly 5- 5 1/2 hours long.

My second pregnancy was definitely harder, and I had some complications that could have been due to how quickly I got pregnant again (a subchorionic hemorrhage in 1st tri, and then a pp hemorrhage after DD2 was born). But DD2 only came four days earlier than DD1, and she was a full 1.5 pounds bigger than DD1. My labor with DD1 was 42 hours (21 of that active). My labor with DD2 was 13 hours start-to-finish, and it was all active (unless you count the seven days prior to labor that I had contractions every night).
I experienced both of these! DS was 8lbs. 12 oz. and DD was 8 lbs. 1 oz. Also, with DD I was only in labor from start to finish 12 hours and I only pushed twice. It was the easiest labor and delivery! Also, I healed much quicker the second time around too.

My L&D was slightly quicker with DS2 (by maybe an hour) but by no means was he smaller! He was 8 pounds and came at 37 weeks, I can't imagine what he would have been like full term, DS1 was 7 pounds. In total I have 3 that were around 7 pounds, 1 eight pounder, and my littlest (DD2) was 6 pounds. They are all around 18 months apart, and my body seems to be just fine, labors were all around 5 hours long (give or take an hour or so) except my last one that was a VERY short 2 hours. HTH
DS was 9lbs 3oz at 40w1d via c-section. DD was 8lbs 9oz at only 38 weeks via planned repeat c-section. I believe that DD would have been heavier than DS if I went to 40w. They were both the same length.

my 1st (daughter) was 7lbs 9 oz and 22" labor was about 6-8 hours long (would have been shorter...had I not had to wait to push so that my X-H could get there)gained 67lbs I was 0cm at last appt. I delivered at 40weeks exact due date
my 2nd (son) was 9lbs 6 oz and 21.75" (I didn't gain as much but looked like I was carrying twins! gained 42lbs) and he was born less than an hour after I got to the hospital. I was 4cm at 40weeks, delivered at 40weeks 5 days. Was 6cm when I got to the hospital and went from 6-10 in minutes
So in my case the labor did get shorter but babies got bigger and I gained less wait each time
Let's hope I gain less...and we will see how the labor is and how big the baby is this time. The nurse told me when I delivered our son to move into the hospital a week before I am due because I may not make it to the hospital. I am going natural again, and although a homebirth would be fine, I would rather be in the hospital just in case something goes wrong or I don't have time to make it to the hospital. My OB and the hospital/nurses were great w/my natural (hypnobirth) plan

DD (#2) was 6 lb, 1 oz. My labor with her was over 40 hours without pushing and ended in a c-section.
I've often heard that second babies are bigger and come more quickly, no matter how far apart the pregnancies.
