My 4 month old averages 32 oz per day. She eats 5x each day, and each bottle is normally 6 oz, with the exception of her 1st bottle of the day, which is 8 oz. She STTN between 10 and 11 hours.

This is almost us exactly, except his 3 bottles while I am away from work are all 7-8oz. Then I breast feed the other 2 times he is fed when I get home.

How much does your LO weigh? It should be close to 2.5-3oz per pound of baby per day.
he is probably just a little over 11 lbs now. he isn't gaining weight, EBF. fell under the 3rd percentile. only gained 5 oz the past few weeks. the LC did a weighed feed and he only got 1.5 oz from me. he seems to be taking roughly 4 - 6 oz from the bottle. sometimes as frequently as every 2 hours. maybe he is just trying to catch up. he is also breastfeeding. sometimes its enough but most of the time he gets 2 - 6 oz after BF as well. we see pedi tomorrow so I'll see what she says too. but wanted to see what was common. thanks!
About 24oz a day - 20oz BM, 4 oz formula supplementation...6 bottles a day, 4 oz each. But one of those is at 3am and soon I'm going to try upping the quantity in her day time bottles and decreasing the 3am (I'm beginning to suspect it's more habit than hunger). Also, DD was born at 4lb15oz and has taken a long time to get up to 4oz bottles (within the past 3-4 weeks it became routine). I'm an EPer.

We had a similiar issue with only a 2lb weight gain in 2 months so the dr. had me add rice cereal and feeding 6-8 times a day. We did a combo of both formula (4oz)and breast milk because I just couldn't keep up and it seemed to do the trick.
My LO only gained 10 oz in the last two months before her 4 month appt. I EBF but give her bottles at daycare which she was sleeping through sometimes. I thought she would have made up for the difference when she was me, but I guess not. Pedi told me the opposite. No solids until 6 months since solids are lower in calories and can take up space in the stomach that should be filled with high caloric BM. Also told me to weigh her and if she didn't gain a lb in one month, i would have to come in earlier than her 6 month check up. Also upped her DC allowance by 2 oz and told them to make sure she's at least getting 16 oz a day (i send 18 oz). She's gaining good now.
I'd ask your Pedi. It's different for formula feeding. BF babies generally don't eat more than 24 oz a day max because the composition of the BM changes with your babies growing needs.

so far the GI doc he sees (has dairy/soy protein intolerance) said no to the introduction of solids for this same reason. will see what the pedi says today. I guess the thing that is most confusing is the mixing of formula and breast milk back and forth, etc. I never know how much to give. since I am BFing, pumping and giving him that and FF as well! 3 modes of feeding. I just keep giving him more and more until he seems satisfied. I do not want him to fall behind anymore than he already has. I thought I might be overfeeding him. but I guess not, since the most he'll take is 6 oz. thanks ladies!
how many oz does your 4 month old eat on average? and how many times per day? does it vary if you do breast milk vs formula or a mixture of both? TIA!
Audrey is 4 months and weighs 13lbs. Her first three months she was breastfed exclusively; she's now bottle fed. She takes a total of 26 oz each day. I do a 7 oz feed in the morning, two 6 oz feeds in the day and a 7 oz before bed. By standard, she's petite, but on target for her height/weight percentiles (50th on each). Doctor says she is proportionate and is at a healthy weight. She sleeps through the night, so I'm comfortable with the amount she gets. I think it all depends on the baby and as long as they're in the right height/weight percentiles, you know they're on track for healthy weight gain.
How is your baby doing now?? Mine had the same issues!! Milk protein allergy. I EBF'd for 8 weeks and my son ended up with failure to thrive, but not b/c I wasn't producing enough milk. I had plenty. He had allergic colitis really badly, so I quit breastfeeding and gave him soy formula. He's doing well now at 4 months but is still a tiny bit skinny. He's 15 lbs (50th %) and 26.5 in. (95th%). I'm just curious as to how your baby is doing. I'm glad I saw that your GI told you not to give him solids until 6 mo. The most Dyl will take is 6 oz. too.

DD typically takes about 4-6 oz per bottle. She gets 5 bottles per day.
