Tooth help!

DS is 5.  We were at the playground and he hit his mouth on one of the ladders.  His front tooth is noticeably loose, but not so loose that it seems as if it's about to fall out.  It's a baby tooth.  I called the dentist, but there isn't an emergency number.  WWYD--is this even a problem since this tooth will fall out in the next few years anyway?

Re: Tooth help!

  • No it isn't a problem. My uncle is a dentist and when DS fell off his bike literally smashing his face into the ground two of his teeth were pushed up and back a little in his mouth. My uncle told me to have him eat soft foods ( his gums and face were so messed up he couldn't eat anything else anyway) and his tooth may correct itself. Well they did move back and tighten back up. One of the teeth did die but unless we notice an abcess my uncle says to let nature take it course. The tooth may fall out a bit sooner but that is ok.

  • I just spent $50 at the dentist a couple months ago for this exact thing. Told me it will probably tighten up on its own, watch for tooth color changes and gum changes for possible abscess, stay away from carrots/apples kinda crunchy stuff..

It did tighten up and all is well.
