Awesome score at the Farmer's Market yesterday!

Giant head of cabbage, 2 giant zucchini, 4 bell peppers, 4 sweet peppers, 5 cucumbers, 1lb. of green beans, 2lbs. of tomatoes, bag of kettle corn and 2 bunches of flowers for $20.

I already made 3 batches of zucchini bread and am going to make cabbage rolls for dinner this week.

  • Awesome indeed.

Our local farmer's market is on the high $ end. There are so many farm stands around that they cater to the upper income people.

I just hit the farm stands and pick your own places most of the time.

  • No "upper income people" here in Toledo! I told DH we are going there every Sat. until the end of season.

  • I need to go to ours or make a trip to Eastern Mkt one of these days.  It's a good time to restock the freezer with stuffed peppers, stuffed cabbage, soup, etc.

  • I used to do the Farmer's Market around here too but then I just started going to people's stands outside their house. Last week I got 35 Roma Tomatoes (or Plum... I don't really know the difference) and 4 small squash and a small zucchini for $2!!! They just put baskets out on their tables with a sign that says $1 a basket.

  • That's awesome!! Here just 1 bunch of flowers is $20. That amount would have cost me $60 or more.
