Reenlistment Ceremony

My DH is having his reenlistment ceremony at our home this week. Im assuming it will be quick and just planned on apps and champagne/beer for afterwards. Despite being a Marine Wife for 8 years I have never hosted a formal event like this. Do you think this is appropriate or any other suggestions.

I've never heard of one, I imagine depending on your husbands rank and personality is how formal I would go. Would keep it simple - though like you suggested for the plan. Make it more of a cocktail hour in celebration of his re-enlistment versus "Formal" makes me think dress blues and floor length dresses. Congratulations on your husbands re-enlistment, please tell him Thakn you for his service from a fellow Marine Wife - my husband is due in Marh to re-enlist.

The only re-enlistment ceremonies I have ever seen were mass ceremonies.  I've never heard of one person having one, much less it being formal.  My H has re-enlisted twice.  One was a mass re-enlisted over seas.  The other, he signed the papers, said the oath and went work. 

I guess if you are doing this at your house, I wouldn't do much fancy.  It will seriously take less than 2 minutes.  Have some drinks and apps set out.

I've been to 2 and they have both been very informal and small. One was at a park and there were maybe 15 of us there then we all went out to eat courtesy of the guy who signed. The other was exactly the same but on the water. The three times my husband reenlisted he did it at a park then took all his friends and their families out to dinner and drinks (of course paying for everyone).

I went to one at a bowling ally, we ate and bowled after the ceremony. I think you will be fine with what you have planned.

When I reenlisted, it was srsly a 5 min ceremony.  My Capt said the oath, I repeated it, then I sgned the papers.  I would not plan anything formal, apps and beer is perfect.  I had mine at a park on base, we did it at lunch and just grilled for everyone that came, it was about 15 people there.

Thanks ladies. What I meant by formal is Ive never had anyone from the unit over for anything but a cookout. I think I will stick with the apps, champagne, and beer.
