If you've bought a new electric smoothtop range recently, come in!

We're replacing our oven and I definitely want something built to last.  The info out there is so conflicting about convection vs. traditional and the best brands to buy.  Would love any feedback/advice, positive or negative--TIA!

ETA:  I do cook, and like to cook for family on holidays, but I am by no means a gourmet cook nor do I bake anything too intricate.

  • I like my GE Profile. It's the second one we've purchased. (Needed a new one because we moved, not because we had any problems with it.) I prefer baking to cooking, and this oven is fine. I wouldn't worry too much about convection. I have a friend who is a professional chef, and he said that the convection in a home oven is not nearly as effective as a high-end, professional oven and he wouldn't waste the money on it. He did however suggest switching to gas instead of electric :)
  • I'm pretty sure my stove is a GE. We've had it for 7 years without a single problem with it. Smile I LOVE the ceramic stove top.... SO easy to clean!

  • I have 2 (one in the main kitchen and one in my basement kitchen).  They are both GE profiles and I have not had any problems with either one.
