Tylenol for contractions?

Does anyone know if you can take Tylenol for contractions?  I thought I was in labor on Wednesday, but it turned out to be pre-labor and last night I had another really painful contraction.  I know that Tylenol is ok during pregnancy, but is it ok to take for contractions or would it mask what you are supposed to be feeling or something?

Re: Tylenol for contractions?

  • I asked my doctor about it on Tues and she said it was fine.  I've been taking it on and off when they get bad or when I'm having a lot of cramping.

  • Isn't that kind of like putting a band-aid on a bullet wound?

Or as another poster on here replied in another thread, like bailing out a sinking ship with a teaspoon. :)

I'm sure it's safe, I just don't see the point and it would just be one more drug in your system if you do go into labor.

  • Its safe. but the nurses told me it does nothing for them. So of it works for you, great.
