Baby food makers

What have you started making?

Have you frozen avocado?  Did that work out?

How long does it take to heat up once frozen?

Re: Baby food makers

  • I have made avocado, sweet potatoes, carrots, blueberries, bananas, peas and green beans. Frozen avocado works great it stays green and she loves it. I microwave it for 15 seconds but you can warm it in a hot water bath for 5 minutes.

    Hope that helps.

  • That helps a ton!  I'm so happy it stays green.  I was worried that it would be nasty brown when thawed.  Thanks!
  • It browns a tiny bit when it thaws but not much and some times not at all.

  • I've made avocados, sweet potatoes, green beans, and pears.  I thaw my food the night before (I have to get it packed up for DCP)...it only needs to be heated for about 10-12 seconds once thawed.  I cover my avocado in seran wrap before putting the lid on the container and that helps keep it from oxidizing...

  • I have made peas, carrots, green beans, avocado & avocado mixtures (bananacado/pearcado/peachcado/papayacado), pears, peaches, apples and apple mixtures, bananas, zucchini and squash, papaya....I'm quite sure I have forgotten some.

But yes, avocado works out wonderfully, mixed or not, frozen.

I usually take out what I am going to use the night before so it is partially thawed. Then I use a steam warmer to warm it the rest of the way.

  • I've done peas, carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, yams, green beans, squash, mango, and cantelope(this is the only thing that you can't freeze) I also thaw the night before.

  • my avocado did not come out good, I think maybe it wasn't ripe enough. What do you all do with it?
