Recently, I've been itching for some color in the house. The dining room and living room are the next victims. I was thinking a medium greyish-slate-sage-y green for the dining room and khaki for the living. Lots of people seem to choose red for the dining room but I don't want to go there.
What color is your dining room?
Re: NBR: What color is your dining room?
Ours is the same ugly beige as the rest of the house. Can't wait to paint it, but that room will probably be one the last to be painted since we rarely use it. I think your ideas sound good.

Your idea sounds much better than my DR... LOL
Our dining room is pink on the bottom and flowered wallpaper on top (not horrible flowered but def not my taste). The really scary part of it is that DH is the one who painted and wall papered. To him, the color is coral... NOT, it is pink LOL. The first time I went to his house I thought he had just not changed it and that an old lady had decorated. One day we will change it, for sure!
This is the exact color scheme of our half bath downstairs Deep red, white chair rail, tan.
I just don't want to go red for the dining room. Not sure why, I'm just not feeling it.
If it helps to picture it at all, our dining room has white wainscoting all around so the only painting would be on the top half of the room.
That is what I want to do to our dining room and use some version of yellow on top. Then have red accents.....with a little Tuscan flare. Right now it's this glorious mural of some Roman or Greek garden.....I HATE it and it's going to be a b!tch to change. EVERYTHING is part of the mural....the window casing, the baseboard, the ceiling....ugh.

Ours is a very gray blue.. or a slightly blue gray.
Regardless, it's going to be 'roasted squash' (aka orange) in a few weeks.
I like your ideas!
We don't have a dining room. We have an eat-in kitchen. The kitchen is a beautiful light sky blue. You can see directly into the eat-in section from the living room. The living room is painted a tannish/burnt orange color. Blue and orange are complimentary colors so it looks really pretty together - like the beach or something (sand + sky).
Here's what we're thinking of right now

Our accents in there are brushed nickel chandelier and curtain rod, eggplant curtains, cherry furniture.
These are almost the exact colors we have. The dining room is a celery/sageish green and our adjacent living room is almond. I think it looks good.
Ours is called "Warm bread" or something like that. It is beige.
I would totally go for plum if I did it again.
Ours is a cocoa brown under the white chair rail, and the same taupe we have through our adjoining rooms above it. I like the flow of the neutral color through those rooms. I wish I could be one to put different colors in every room, but I appreciate having one room flow into another, so I haven't gotten bold with color yet.
Love the green idea. We have a Silver sage knock off in our kitchen, and I like it. It's a shade darker than Restoration Hardware Silver sage. It looks gray green in some lights and just sage green in other light. It's a nice neutral. Nothing bold about it. You MUST post photos when you are done with it.
