DS is 2 y 8 mo, and his bedtime is 8pm. When I tell people his bedtime is 8 they look at me like I'm crazy! Most of them do not have kids his age. He wakes at about 7am, naps from 1-3pm, and bed at 8pm. He fights us going to bed at night most every night. Are we being unreasonable or what?
Re: Bedtimes?
My DD's bedtime is 8pm...seemed reasonable enough to me...late enough for her, early enough for me!
PU what other people think...everyone is ALWAYS going to have an opinion about what you do when it comes to your children...and like they say "opinions are like ***holes, everyone's got one"...
Unreasonable as in it's too early or too late?
DD generally goes to bed around 8:30 on the days she gets up for summer camp at 8:30am. She is absolutely miserable if she doesn't get about 12 hours of sleep at night, especially since she doesn't nap during the day.
If I don't have to wake her up the next morning or if she woke up super late that day, say 9:30 am or 10, she can stay up a little later. I try to be flexible with her bedtime if there's some event or something that keeps us from getting her to bed early, but I know I will pay for it if I have to wake her up the next morning.
We've found that we have to fluctuate bedtimes depending on the time of year. Right now, DD goes to bed around 9:00 because we can't get her down earlier in the summer when it's bright out (even with her dark shades). In winter, she usually goes to bed earlier 8-8:30. Maybe if you bumped it to 8:15-8:30 it might be easier to get him down?
And no, I don't think 8 is unreasonable. I would love 8 if DD would go down then! People will always have their opinions...
DD's bedtime has been 8pm for a long time
BUT, during the summer it gets pushed back to almost 9 just because it stays light out for so much longer, she has a harder time winding down before 8pm.

DD goes to bed around 8, wakes up about 6:30/7. She takes a 1.5-2 hour nap most days.
If your LO is having trouble going to sleep at night, I might move the bedtime earlier.
Some days putting DD to bed even 15 minutes later than normal can have a huge effect on her and she's a total grump to put down, w/ multiple tantrums, etc.
