Like so many of you, my heartburn has gotten UNBEARABLE...where I eventually figured out that it wasn't heartburn, but acid reflux (and there is a difference).
My dr. ok'd me taking Prevacid, which is a 14 day treatment. I finished the treatment 3 days ago, and guess what...it's back with more force than ever.
I have a call in to my doctor, but they don't exactly make answering questions their priority (I'm lucky if I ever get a call back when it's not an emergency), so here's my problem:
Prevacid, Prilosec, all of those "daily management" meds are a 14 day treatment, and the packaging and website say to only take the full treatment once every FOUR MONTHS. Obviously, they can't "cure" pregnancy reflux, so after 14 days, it seems like I'm stuck.
Has anyone else been put on a daily maintenance, despite the recommendation from the drug to only take it once every 4 months? If so, what med were you put on?
Oh, and BTDT moms, please tell me this goes away after LO is born!!!!
Thanks so much!
Re: Help with acid reflux...
I would take Zantac before or after eating and it did nothing. I take liquid Maalox before bed to make sure I can sleep if I feel the reflux coming on. The only thing that I have found that works for me is to eat very small meals. Like, don't eat until you are full, but stop halfway. My portions at dinner are so small it's sad. But the more that's in my stomach the worse I will feel the burn.
