A wise friend once told me

that the first trimester is a cruel joke because you feel so, so crappy, but can't tell anyone why. It was my hope to post this after I started the second trimester, but I have been feeling so, so crappy and it's really isolating to not be able to talk about it! I figured this is the best place to vent, though I'm crossing my fingers that I'll start feeling better soon!

I'm between 8 and 9 weeks, and have my first appointment next week. I am excited (you may remember my "I want to be pregnant" post a few weeks ago) but it's hard to be too excited when I feel nauseous most of the time. I promise once I start feeling better, I'll post more positive posts. Smile

ETA: If I know you through facebook or IRL, please don't say anything! We're not public yet. Also, according to the internet, my due date is mid-March, so I'm hoping that all of us who will be on maternity leave at that time can do playdates!

  • Congratulations! I totally agree with your friend. First tri sucks! Hope it goes by fast and you're feeling good again. H&H 9 months.

  • I am on your same timeline! 9 weeks today with a due date of 3/18/11! I also feel like total crap! (And we aren't making our announcement outside of parents and siblings until 12 weeks...)

I am trying out the Seabands today to see if they can cut my nausea/queasiness a bit, but I am worried about co workers noticing...

    GL!

  • So sorry you are feeling bad. I know how you feel because my first tri's have been rough too. I hope you get some relief soon.

ETA: I forgot to say congrats!

  • hey, congrats!! that's awesome :-)

eta: let me clarify ;-) it suuuuuucks that you are feeling bad, I definitely sympathize. but I have just started feeling better in the past week so maybe you don't have too long to go either! I'm still exhausted all the time, but it's so much better than being exhausted plus wanting to puke my guts out!

  • congratulations!

  • Congratulations, that is wonderful news.  I gave up on non-medicated responses to morning sickness with my second.  Zofran was my friend and it made such a difference.  I sort of felt like a human being again.  Yay your due date was my due date for DD - it's a great time for maternity leave.
  • Congrats! That's wonderful!

I swore by seabands and sour lemon candies during the first tri. I wore the seabands under wide bracelets or my watch to hide them.

  • Congrats!!! I hope the M/S subsides soon and you can just enjoy being pregnant.

  • Congratulations! DD was born 3/22 and I thought it was the perfect time to be pregnant and be on maternity leave because I wasn't huge in the summer time and then you have the nice spring weather to spend outside with your LO. I hope you're feeling better soon!

  • Congratulations!!! Your friend is right, first trimester is pretty abysmal - you're excited, you feel cruddy and yet, you end up just keeping it to yourself because of the what ifs. But you'll be out of it soon and hopefully sharing it here brings some excitement!!!! Thrilled for you, it is so exciting to have a new life stirring!

  • Aw, congrats!  My first tri with DD1 wasn't too bad, but my first tri with DD2 rocked.my.world.  Even Zofran did little to ease the nauseau and actual throwing up for the entire pregnancy.  Good luck - I hope you'll be over the hump soon.  Just keep your eye on the prize - it's so worth it.
  • congrats!! hope you feel better soon!
