While at work, how far are you from LO? I'm about an hour after a ten minute walk, 30 minute train ride & ten minute drive. The past few weeks I've been seeing the same young mom wearing her LO on the train each afternoon. My guess is she works in the city & drops her little guy off in the city somewhere as well. I don't think I'd be too keen on exposing DS to the germs that come along with public transportation, but it just got me thinking about logistics of DS being closer to me...I'm rambling. Just want to know how far you are from DC
Re: working moms w/ lo's in dc
It takes me 15 mins to get to daycare, then about a 35 minute drive home (depending on traffic). If I was just driving straight home, I could get home in 35 minutes. So, it's definitely not on the way, but it's not terrible.
Let me tell you though...I thought it would be great to have Auds in the car with me for most of my commute. But really, either she sleeps or she screams. If I could go back, I'd look for daycare near our house instead of closer to work.
I am 30 mins. away.
I was thinking about this on my way in this morning, as there's a center close by my office.
But I prefer having my kids close to home for a few reasons.
1. I don't always necessarily come into the office. If I ever work from home, I still would take my kids to daycare. Makes no sense to drive 30 minutes to drop them off, then head back home for another 30.
2. If I am ever sick, they can still go to daycare if it's close to home.
3. If they're close to my office, pick up and drop off is all me, as everyone else is close to home. It's not feasible - right now I do drop off and H does pick up, and we cover each other as needed.
4. I always start and end my day at home - but sometimes we have doctor or dentist appts which are also close to home - so it's easier to have the daycare close by.
She's at a daycare in a neighboring building. It's a two minute walk from my office.
25 min away from me but only 10 from DH.
Excellent points!
Thanks ladies!

I live an hour from my job. I picked a daycare 10 minutes from work so that I would be closer to him. Mj sleeps most of the commute but I'm free to visit him at lunch if I want to.
also I wouldn't worry too much about germs on a train since your Lo is probably getting just as many at daycare. There's a reason why they say kids in DC tend to have stronger immune systems.
I live in Arkansas. My Daycare is in my office complex. So, five minute walk tops, 30 second drive. Positive is I go play with her at lunch....negative is I'm going to have to stop once she starts with separation anxiety
In Arkansas, its not hard to live 5 minutes from work, a Walmart, a Gas Station and Daycare..
