Hey ladies! Just looking for some honest opinions on a girls name my husband and I were tossing around. We were both close with our maternal grandmother's who have both passed away. My grandmother's name was Emily and his was Mary. We did not want a extremely popular name (like Emily) so we were thinking about Emery Grace, with Emery being a sort of combination of Emily and Mary. We aren't set on it yet, so please give me your input good or bad. Thanks!

Re: Opinion on girl's name
I like it!
Emery is a nice name indeed!
Immediate association: nail file.
Good effort, though!
What about Emmeline?
I agree but I still like it!

I just can't hear this name without thinking of emery boards. I really do not like it.
What about Mary Emily, or Marilie, or, I don't know, something else.
No. Emery reminds me of a nail file and strikes me as trendy/made up. I wouldn't have ever thought Emily and Mary got mashed up to equal Emery. My cousin just used Emory for her baby and I really dislike it.
You could use an E or an M name to honor Emily and Mary. Grace is a "filler" name that's popular right now, so I would just use a deriviative of Emily for either first or middle and Mary as the other.
Some Mary variations: Margaret, Moira, Maura, Molly, Maren, Marielle, Mara, Miriam, Marika, Marilyn,
Other M names: Meredith, Maeve, Marissa, Melinda, Maya
Some Emily variations: Amelia, Emelia, Emma
Other E names: Eden, Elsa, Elise, Elaina, Elizabeth, Evelyn

Agree with all the nail file folks.
I like the sentiment, though. How about Mariel?
