So DH and I have decided on a girl's name: Lola Grace. Now I am having second thoughts because my sisters think it is a slutty sounding name. Opinions.

Everyone has an opinion. This is why I don't speak a word of names to family or some friends. I never want to hear their opinions because everyone is going to have one. To be honest about Lola, my cousin named her daughter Lola and that is what I thought about it at first but now she is cute little Lola and that is who she is...not some slut or whatever. So if you are sold on it then you should stick with it.

Lola is not the name of an adult, unless she's in the adult entertainment industry. Lola is, however, an adorable nn for a little girl. Maybe another fn that could have Lola as a nn? Example: Eloise, Penelope, Dolores, Laura, Lenora, Laurel, Lourdes, Charlotte.

Lola is spunky, not slutty. To me, names like Crystal and Destiny sound trashy, not Lola. I love it.

Lola is such a cute name...we were tossing it around ourselves!  I love it, but it is a very polarizing name.  You either love it or hate it.  For me, I decided that I didn't love the name Lola enough to put up with all the people who did not like it.  I felt like I would have to defend our choice to some (MIL!).  There are other names I like just as much that don't get such a strong reaction, kwim?

That being said, Lola Grace was at the top of our list!  I love the way it sounds.  Good luck deciding!

I like the name Lola but would never use it because of the songs it appears in.  My name is Susanna and I've endured a lifetime of 'OH SUSANNA, DON'T YOU CRY FOR ME...' from every clown who thinks they're being original.  It gets old really quickly.  I would never use a 'song name' for a child (ie Susanna, Clementine, Cecelia, Caroline, Lola, etc)
