Baby Names

What do y'all think?

My DH and I found out at our A/S that we're having a little boy. We've picked the name William Alan, and I think it sounds nice but I've been hearing a lot of negativity about it.

What do all of y'all think of it? Is it terrible?

Re: What do y'all think?

  • What are they saying? I think it's a nice name.

  • Ah, I like it. What could anyone possibly come up with as a negative for William Alan?

  • It's such a nice, classic name!  Anyone who comes up with something negative to say about it just feels guilty about their crappy naming style.  ;)

  • Opinions are like azzholes.   Everybody has one and they usually stink.

What in the world is wrong with a classic name like that??

  • It's very traditional, I like it.

  • I too like it! I hate negative name comments! Especially when there's NOTHING wrong with the name.

William Alan is a great name! Very strong. I know a few little boys named William. One goes by Billy and one goes by Will. I think "Will" is adorable! There's nothing wrong with just William either.

    Stick with it...it sounds great!

  • I think it is a very classic, nice name.  Yeah, William is popular but not a reason to not use it.

If you both like it, go with it!

  • William Alan is a great, classic name.

If people are wishing you were naming him Diezel Madoxxx Ryder or some crapness like that, then just ignore them.

I sort of think that if someone really hates the name William Alan, maybe they just have bad taste.

  • I think it is a very strong, nice, normal name for a boy.  What negative comments could people make?  Maybe people who have named their kids -aydens and -yleighs don't approve of "normal" names anymore?
  • Nice name although the flow is a little off to me.
  • I like it. It's classic.

  • No comment on the name William. Its a common name and  its average.
  • I've been told it's common, lame, too old-fashioned, blahblahblah. "What are you going to do when people call him Willy?" is my favorite of the questions I've been asked about it.

We're going with it, whatever people say. We just wondered what other people who weren't so close to us thought about it. Y'all seem to think the same as us, for the most part.

Nice, old-fashioned and strong. :D Thanks for the input.

  • People won't think it's too common when he's the only William in an ocean of Aidens Braydens and Jaydens.

As for being too old fashioned, tell them the other name option is Ebeneezer.

This is exactly what I thought! I just feel like, with the uprising of "unique" names, soon enough all the older and traditional names are going to become the "unique" names.

  • I really like both names, but together I think they are too close sounding to flow well.

I'd say "At least he's not another Kaden or Jackson!"
