I don't read this blog, but I know the background--the blogger's son, Henry, got caught up in drugs and ending up dying at 18. I think he was beaten by his dealers. Just awful, but this post about his cremation is heart-wrenching. Makes me want to go and grab J out of his crib and hug him like crazy.

Not sure why I'm torturing myself (and now all of you) but I can't stop thinking about it.

Oh that is so sad. I felt her visceral pain, she is a poignant writer. I can't imagine going through that. When my youngest brother was about to be a sophomore in college, he came home for the summer and started hanging out with his high school friends. My brother was an honor student and varsity athlete, but felt the kids in his classes were posers (his words) and so hung out with less preppy kids. His best friend, who lived two doors down, had gotten into dealing. One day they were playing basketball and they got jumped by some rival kids. My brother was lucky, he walked away with a black eye, his friend fared worse. After talking to our parents, he made the really tough decision to take a break from this friendship if his best friend was going to continue on the course he was setting on. You just never know... I think you just have to always pray and hope for the best and trust that the example and morality you model is the one your children will follow. Lots of hugs have to help too, right?

I can't read that right now, but I cannot stop thinking about the bumpie that posted about the child that choked on a pretzel. 

I couldn't find the original post - wondered if she dd'd.  I have been thinking and praying for that family all week.  And I've also been hyper vigilant around DS when he's eating now. 

I hope the families involved are at peace with whatever decision was made and that the child did not/does not have any pain.
